Lady Canes breeze into state quarterfinals

Cartersville volleyball breezed into the Class 4A state quarterfinals with a 25-3, 25-14, and 25-8 victory Saturday over Wayne County at the Storm Center.

The straight set win by the 4th-ranked Lady Canes in the best-of-five second round sets up a showdown on Tuesday evening with visiting Blessed Trinity. The Lady Titans (35-10) beat St. Pius X in the second round, 25-9, 25-19, and 25-18 to advance. 

The Cartersville/Blessed Trinity survivor will advance to the state semifinals on Saturday at Seckinger High School in Buford. The GHSA finals for each classification are October 29-30 at LakePoint in Emerson.
