The Cartersville Lady Canes volleyball team lost the Class 4A State Championship match to Pace Academy Monday night at the Champions Center at LakePoint, 27-25, 25-12, and 25-17.
The title for the Knights (43-6) is their eighth straight.
The Lady Canes battled in a back-and-forth opening set before falling. Pace Academy controlled the next two to take the match in straight sets.
Pace Academy's only in-state loss this season was to Class 5A state champion Pope in four sets in August.
Cartersville finished the season as state runner-up with a Region 7-4A championship and a 33-12 overall record. The Lady Canes’ year included winning streaks of seven, eight, and nine matches.
