Lady Canes gymnastics hosts five-team meet

The Lady Canes Gymnastics team hosted a competitive meet on Saturday, March 14, at Cartersville Twisters Gym. The home event featured matchups against Bremen, River Ridge, Roswell, and South Forsyth, as well as Senior Recognition for the team's graduating athletes.

In the team standings, Bremen claimed first place with a score of 103.450, followed closely by River Ridge in second with 102.750. Cartersville secured third overall with a team total of 98.800. Roswell finished fourth (93.300), and South Forsyth placed fifth (73.300).

Leading the way for the Lady Canes was senior Emerie Elrod, who delivered standout performances across multiple events. Elrod earned a second-place finish on vault with a score of 9.00 and matched that with another second-place result on floor (9.00). She also contributed an 8.25 on beam. Her strong vault performance has now qualified her individually for the GHSA Gymnastics A-4A Preliminary Meet, scheduled for April 22–23, 2026, at Buford High School. Elrod previously placed fifth on vault at the 2025 GHSA State Championships in the A–4A division.

Sophomore Riley McDurmon also shone in the all-around competition, posting a solid total of 32.200. Her highlights included a fourth-place finish on floor with an 8.70 and an 8.15 on vault.

Other notable vault performances for Cartersville came from Sydney Jackson (8.30), Ellie Kate Jones (third place, 8.90), and Katy Grace Wolfe (8.05). On floor, Kyndal Shook added an impressive 8.20 to the team's effort.

Head coach Kimberly Mosteller praised the team's ongoing dedication and thanked the community for its support throughout the 2026 season.

The Lady Canes will wrap up their regular season at home with one final meet on Saturday, March 28, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Cartersville Twisters Gym.
