Lady Canes, Lady Colonels win non-region games on Wednesday


Cartersville improved to 14-7 on the season Wednesday with a non-region win at Ridgeland.

Cartersville softball scored two or more runs in four of five innings Wednesday night on their way to a 14-5 win at Ridgeland.


Eight different Lady Canes had at least one hit.


Ansleigh Tilley (5 IP, 5R, 4ER, 5H, 2BB) collected the pitching win for the Hurricanes.


Jordon Bishop homered twice and drove in four runs to lead the Cartersville attack. Kennedy Crenshaw also homered, doubled, and drove in three runs. Allana Williams added two hits including a double and one RBI.


Addi Burns, Erin McCrary (two RBIs), LaKiaya Banks (RBI), Reese Dumas, and Miley Jo Williams added one hit apiece.


With the non-region loss, Ridgeland fell to 7-11 on the season.


Cartersville (14-7, 9-2) hosts Dalton Thursday at 5:30 p.m.


CASS 11, DARLINGTON 3


Bailey York had two hits including a triple and three RBIs in Wednesday's home win over Darlington.

Darlington led 2-0 early but Cass outscored the visiting Tigers 11-1 over the final 3-½ innings to win a non-region matchup Wednesday night in five innings.


Lily Powell (5 IP, 3ER, 5H, 1BB, 4K) picked up the pitching win for the Colonels.


Seven different Lady Colonels had at least one hit each.


Bailey York (triple, three RBIs), Harlee Thomason (two doubles, three RBIs), Cayce Brown (RBI), KK Evans, and Payton Mize finished with two hits each. Darianna Sosa (two-run home run), Braelyn Franklin, and Reese Howard added one hit each. Erin Clinard was credited with one RBI.


Darlington slipped to 8-9 on the season with their loss.


Cass (8-15, 2-10) returns to Region 7-5A play Tuesday (Oct. 3) at Hiram at 5:30 p.m.
