Lady Canes win at Model, Tigers fall at Rome

The Cartersville girls’ basketball team achieved a balanced scoring effort and held the host Model Blue Devils to their second-lowest point total of the season, securing a 58-28 non-region victory on Saturday in Shannon.

Cartersville led 34-10 by halftime and extended the advantage in the second half.


Zoe McCurry led Cartersville with 12 points. Kaytlin Arnold followed with 11. Blakely Morris scored eight points. Trinity Montgomery contributed seven, while Rakhia Price and Bayley Stanley each tossed in six points.


Sasha Wood led Model (5-2) with 10 points.


Cartersville (5-1, 2-0 Region 7-4A) hosts Cass on Tuesday at The Storm Center at 6 p.m.




ROME 60, ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 40


The Rome Wolves hosted and won their season-opener on Saturday, defeating the Adairsville Tigers, 60-40.


Adairsville (0-8, 0-3 Region 7-3A) travels to Marietta to face the Walton Raiders on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and will host Chattooga on Friday in a 7:30 p.m. start.
