Lady Cats cruise to region win; Adairsville falls to region leader


Elizabeth Hartsfield had two hits including a double and four RBIs Wednesday night as Woodland beat Hiram, 17-5.

Woodland softball cruised to a 17-5 Region 7-5A win Wednesday night at Hiram to move into third place in the region standings.


The Lady Cats pounded out 16 hits against the Lady Hornets who remain winless in region play.


Haley Collum (2.1 IP, 5ER, 8H, 0BB, 2K) and Peyton Dorn ( 3.2 IP, 0R, 2H, 1BB, 1K) split the pitching duties for the Wildcats.


Jordan Hammonds had four hits including a double and one RBI at the top of the Woodland batting order. Elizabeth Hartsfield had two hits including a double and four RBIs. Bailey Sakacsi (RBI), Alana Carnes, and Mackenzie Araya each finished with two hits. Cambrie Carrington hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Kamryn Smith (RBI), Brooke Edmondson (RBI), and Collum added one hit apiece. Karmen Zeferino was credited with one RBI.


Woodland (12-13, 6-6) is scheduled to play at Collins Hill Saturday, weather permitting.



LAFAYETTE 14, ADAIRSVILLE 4


Halle Chasen homered Wednesday in the Lady Tigers loss to LaFayette.

The LaFayette Lady Ramblers scored 11 runs in their first three frames Wednesday evening on their way to a 14-4 win at Adairsville in Region 6-AAA action.


Adairsville scored single runs in the third and fourth innings and added two runs in the bottom of the fifth after trailing 14-2.


Megan Gregory had two hits and one RBI for Adairsville. Halle Chasen hit a two-run homer in the fifth. Taylor Evans (RBI), McKenzie Pullam, Jenna Young, Brie Patterson, and Annalee Morris added one hit each.


The Ramblers improved to 17-4-1 on the season and stayed at the top of the Region 6-AAA standings with a 9-2 mark.


Adairsville (8-11-1, 3-8) returns to action next Tuesday at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe.
