Lady Cats drop final games at weekend tourney

Woodland lost a pair of tournament games played Saturday afternoon at Adams Park. The games in Kennesaw were part of the annual Allatoona High School Bucs Bash.
The Lady Cats fell 11-8 to Creekview and 11-7 to Harrison.
CREEKVIEW 11, WOODLAND 8
The Lady Cats rallied to tie the game twice Saturday, but Creekview posted three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a pair of home runs to escape with an 11-8 win.
The Grizzlies led 7-0 through three innings, but Woodland scored seven runs of their own in the fourth to tie the game. Creekview again led 8-7 heading to the sixth inning before the Lady Cats knotted the score again at 8-all.
Lainey Baker and Kailey Baker hit back-to-back home runs for Woodland in the fourth inning. Lainey Baker finished with two hits including three RBIs. Morgan Cooper contributed a pair of hits and one RBI. Ansley Evans (RBI), Hannah Miller, Jessica Ryan, and Cambrie Carrington added one hit apiece.
Lainey Baker (3 IP, 7ER, 8H, 2BB, 4K) and Cassie Jones (3 IP, 4ER, 6H, 0BB, 1K) split the pitching duties for Woodland.
HARRISON 11, WOODLAND 7
In their final game of the Buc Bash, Woodland led the Hoyas 6-2 heading to the bottom of the ninth but Harrison scored nine times to grab a five-run lead on their way to an 11-7 victory.
Grier Bruce, Abby Sitten, and Bayleigh Rouse all homered for Harrison and combined for nine RBIs. The blast by Rouse was a grand slam. Olivia Ramsey had a four-hit game for the Hoyas. Kailey Baker had three hits for the Wildcats including a double and one RBI. Hannah Miller (double, 2 RBIs), Ansley Evans, Michiah Hicks (RBI), and Jessica Ryan (RBI) all finished with two hits each. Morgan Cooper hit a home run and finished with two RBIs.
Woodland (8-4, 4-1) hosts Cartersville in a Region 7-AAAAA doubleheader Tuesday.
