Lady Cats, Wildcats defeat Blue Devils

The Woodland girls' soccer team trailed visiting Bremen 3-0 in the first half Wednesday evening but the Lady Cats scored five, unanswered goals for a 5-3 win.
Woodland got on the scoreboard before the intermission but trailed 3-1 at the half.
The Lady Cats outscored the Lady Blue Devils 4-0 in the second half to earn the victory.
Allie York and Maddie Weightman scored two goals for Woodland. Maddie Weightman also finished with two assists. Libby Morgan scored the other Lady Cats’ goal. Ansley Burns and Reagan Weightman added one assist.
The loss dropped Bremen to 8-7-2 on the season.
Woodland (10-2) is scheduled to play at Adairsville on Thursday at 5 p.m. and will open the Class 5A state playoffs next Tuesday at Greater Atlanta Christian.
WOODLAND BOYS 3, BREMEN 1 Juan Pineda scored unassisted in the opening minute and Chris Sanchez scored from a Joel Alberto assist in the 17th minute as Woodland grabbed an early advantage Wednesday night en route to a 3-1 victory over visiting Bremen. The Blue Devils scored their goal in the 35th minute to make the score 2-1 at the intermission on a rainy evening. Most of the second half was scoreless until Sanchez scored again in the 73rd minute off an assist from Hunter Limbaugh.
Woodland keeper, Pedro Montalvo, was solid in goal for the Wildcats with three saves.
The loss dropped Bremen to 11-4-2 for the season.
Woodland (10-4) travels to North Paulding for a 5:30 match on Thursday and will open the Class 5A state playoffs next Wednesday on the road at the winner of Friday's match between Centennial and Chattahoochee.
