Lady Colonels bring the bats, defeat Woodland

The Cass Lady Colonels pounded out 16 hits, and pitcher Abigail Nails threw a run-rule-shortened complete game Tuesday in a 13-3 five-inning home win over Woodland.
Seven different Lady Colonels had at least two hits each in the win.
Rilyn Caspari (triple, double, RBI) and Addy Bauder led Cass with three hits each. Nails (triple, two RBI), Shyia Woods (double, two RBI), Lindsey Chubb (RBI), Natalie Hughes, and Kylie Gentry each contributed two hits. MJ McFarlane added one RBI.
In the circle, Nails gave up three earned runs on two hits and seven walks with six strikeouts.
Bella Kuykendall pitched all four innings for Woodland, allowing 13 runs (10 earned) on 16 hits with no walks.
Kylie Poston and Charlotte Peterson had the two Lady Cats’ base hits.
Woodland (7-10, 3-6 Region 7-4A) hosts Cartersville on Thursday at 5:55 p.m.
Cass (7-5, 6-4) plays at Dalton on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and will face Ringgold, Gordon Lee, and Coahulla Creek on Friday and Saturday in the Gordon Lee Tournament at Warner Park in Chattanooga.
