Lady Colonels, Colonels sweep visiting Cartersville
The Cass Lady Colonels and Colonels swept visiting Cartersville Friday night in Region 7-5A action.
The Cass girls defeated Cartersville 57-26 and the Cass boys downed the Hurricanes 78-62.
CASS GIRLS 57, CARTERSVILLE 26
The Lady Colonels led 21-3 after the opening eight minutes and cruised to a 57-26 region win over Cartersville.
Cass led 44-10 at halftime and held a 52-16 lead through three quarters.
Claire Davis paced Cass with a double-double (17 points, 12 rebounds). Haley Johnson followed with nine points and five rebounds. Miya Winston and Justice Bennett contributed eight points each. Keara McDaniel finished with five points. Zion Hayes and Olivia Woods chipped in three points apiece while Kiana McDaniel and Tamira Feanny added two each.
Layne Callan led Cartersville with six points. Ansley Griffin, Taff Bradley, and Jakayah Draughn finished with five points each. AJ Davenport contributed three and Milena Bihm added two points.
The loss drops the Lady Canes to 3-10 on the year and 1-5 in Region 7-AAAAA. Cartersville travels to Blessed Trinity Tuesday for a 6 p.m. start.
Cass (18-3, 4-2) hosts Hiram Tuesday at 6 p.m.
CASS BOYS 78, CARTERSVILLE 62
Cartersville took a 12-2 lead early Friday night but the host Colonels caught them by the end of the first period for a 14-14 tie.
From there, Cass held a 26-23 lead by halftime and held a 50-42 advantage through three quarters on their way to a 16-point region win.
Jelani Hames led the Colonels with 22 points. Jackson Hale finished with 13 and Kaden Baldwin contributed 12. Jakai Baldwin and Ethan McIntyre scored eight points each. Sacovie White chipped in seven. Jayden Foster had six points and Devin Henderson added two points for Cass.
Kam Callahan led Cartersville with a game-high 23 points. Romo Pace followed with 15. Luke Gambill scored 13. Jaeden Scott and Monty Tolbert added six and five points, respectively.
The Hurricanes (9-9, 2-4) play at Blessed Trinity Tuesday night.
Cass (8-12, 2-4) hosts Hiram Tuesday.
