Lady Colonels fall to Grady in state playoffs

Cass' Emily Surcey, an Arkansas State signee, won the Colonels' only point Tuesday in a 4-1 state playoff loss at Grady in Atlanta.

The Cass girls tennis team fell 4-1 at Grady Tuesday afternoon in the opening round of the GHSA Class 5A state tournament.

Cass’ Emily Surcey dominated her match at Line 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win for the Lady Colonels only point. Christina Surcey went three sets at Line 2 singles, but came up short.

Grady won the remaining lines in straight sets and will advance to play St. Pius later this week in the second round.
