Lady Colonels hold off Raiders, 3-1

The Lady Colonels scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning Tuesday night at home, and that was all they would score or need in a 3-1 Region 7-4A victory over Southeast Whitfield.

The visiting Lady Raiders narrowed their deficit to 3-1 in the top of the fourth inning, but Cass pitcher Kylie Gentry shut them down the rest of the way.

Gentry went all seven innings in the circle, allowing one earned run on three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.

KK Evans had two hits — both triples — for the Lady Colonels. Bailey York (triple, two RBI), Gentry (double, RBI), Molli Morrow, and Harlee Thomason added one hit.

Southeast Whitfield slipped to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in region play.

Cass (4-3, 2-1) visits Hiram for another region game on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
