Lady Colonels top Blessed Trinity, 8-4


The Cass softball team picked up an important Region 7-AAAAA victory Saturday by defeating Blessed Trinity 8-4. The visiting Titans took an early 3-0 lead but a four-run third inning gave the Lady Colonels their first lead. Blessed Trinity (4-3, 3-3) tied the score 4-4 with a run in the top of the fourth inning but Cass scored four times over their final three frames for the victory. Cass pitcher Kylee Hembree (7 IP, 4ER, 7H, 6BB, 2K) went the distance in the circle for the win. Alexis Woods tripled twice, scored twice, and drove in a run for the Colonels’ offense. Eryn Lee (RBI) and Haley Smith (3 RBI) also had two hits each. Ansley Hight contributed a triple while Hembree, Kimberly Allen, and Rachael Lee (RBI) also added one hit apiece. Kendyl Hardin drove in a pair of runs with a bases loaded hit by pitch and a sac fly. Cass (8-4, 3-3) entertains Hiram Tuesday in a region doubleheader at 5 p.m.
