Adairsville softball got home runs Wednesday from Taylor Evans and Brie Patterson to go with some solid relief pitching by Megan Gregory to hold off the Ridgeland Panthers, 5-4, in a Region 6-AAA battle in Tiger Valley.

Ridgeland built a 3-0 lead midway through the third inning before the Tigers offense got rolling.

Annalee Morris produced a two-run single in the bottom of the third to narrow the Tigers’ deficit to 3-2.

Adairsville tied the game in the fourth inning following Gregory’s RBI double.

The Tigers then took the lead in the bottom of the fifth with solo home runs by Patterson and Evans.

The Panthers scored a run in the top of the sixth, but got no closer.

Jordan Clay (3.2 IP, 3ER, 8H) split the pitching duties with Gregory (3.1 IP, 1ER, 5H, 5K) who picked up the win.

Desiree Powell had four hits for Ridgeland including a pair of doubles.

The loss dropped Ridgeland to 5-11 overall and 1-3 in region play.

Adairsville (6-6-1, 2-3) hosts Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
