Lady Tigers hold off Raiders, improve to 4-0

The Adairsville girls soccer team beat visiting Southeast Whitfield Tuesday night to remain undefeated on the season. The Lady Tigers led 2-1 at halftime and held off the visiting Raiders in the second half for a 2-1 win. Taylor Rhoades scored in the third minute off an assist from Cat Wheeler and Kaylee Jordan found the back of the net five minutes later for what would be the game-winning goal. Wheeler again served up the assist. Adairsville had ten shots on goal in the contest. Southeast put 12 shots on goal. The Raiders goal came in the 13th minute after the Lady Tigers had taken a 2-0 lead.

Adairsville coach David Sexauer was pleased that the two goals resulted from “follow-through plays.” The coaches also identified freshman goalkeeper Annie McCormick as the player of the game. She played the entire game in net and denied all the corner kicks and shots from outside the 18-yard box. The Lady Tigers (4-0) now turn their attention to Region 6-AAA play. Adairsville will host Haralson County Friday evening.
