The Adairsville Lady Tigers ended their regular season on a high note Thursday night with a 5-0 non-region victory at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe.


Ella Edwards scored three goals, and Alexa Damer had two goals and two assists in the Tigers’ win. 


Adairsville led 3-0 at the intermission. Damer gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead off an assist from Sam Gough. Edwards added a goal just one minute later off a deflection from the Lady Warriors. Damer’s second goal in the 37th minute was off her corner kick.


Edwards scored in the second half in the 42nd and 54th minutes. Damer assisted on both second-half goals.


“We controlled play for most of the game,” noted Adairsville assistant coach Amanda Jones. “The play by Ella (Edwards) in the midfield was outstanding. Greer Cofield was excellent on the defensive line tonight, and Alexa (Damer) exhibited her ball skills.”

Adairsville hopes to carry the momentum into the state playoffs.“I think we are in a good place heading into next week,” added Jones. “The girls are healthy, and our chemistry on the field has continued to improve.”


The loss ended the season for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe with a 6-7 record.


The Adairsville girls (13-3) will learn their state playoff opponent on Monday. The first round is scheduled to begin on Thursday.

The host Warriors led 3-2 at the intermission and outscored Adairsville 2-1 in the second half Thursday night in the regular season finale for both teams.


LFO improved to 6-8.


Adairsville finished the season with a 6-11 mark.
