Lady Tigers shutout Darlington to win season opener

The Adairsville girls soccer team opened the 2024 season Monday night with a 1-0 victory at Darlington.
Following a scoreless first half, Ella Edwards punched in the Lady Tigers’ goal in the 41st minute off an assist from Alexa Damer.

Adairsville outshot Darlington 11-1 in the matchup.
“It was a great match,” noted Adairsville assistant coach Amanda Jones. “Both teams showed some physicality and our team connectedness and passing improved as the game went on.”
Jacksyn Elrod was the recipient of the game ball from head coach David Sexauer, “she brought her position to life offensively and defensively and in return fueled many of her teammates to be successful on our counterattacks.”
The Lady Tigers (1-0) return to the pitch Thursday at Cedartown.
DARLINGTON 4, ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 1
The Adairsville boys soccer team lost its season opener Monday evening at Darlington 4-1.
Darlington led 4-0 at the intermission.
Greg Munoz scored the Adairsville goal. Alex Gollaz had an assist on the scoring play.
The Tigers (0-1) return to action on Friday night at Sonoraville.
