Lady Tigers stay unbeaten in region; Woodland girls and Cass boys earn narrow wins

The Adairsville Lady Tigers kept their unbeaten region mark Tuesday night with a 4-0 victory over Murray County in Tiger Valley.


Cat Wheeler and Sadye Johnson scored one goal and had one assist each. Taylor Rhoades and Emma Collins scored the other Adairsville goals.


Adairsville improved to 12-1 overall and 6-0 in Region 6-AAA.


WOODLAND GIRLS 2, SOUTH PAULDING 1


Tiera Feanny scored both goals for the Lady Cats and keeper Chloe Ravish made 25 saves Tuesday night as Woodland outlasted visiting South Paulding, 2-1.


The Spartans scored in the game’s 17th minute to take an early lead, but Feanny found the net four minutes later to take a 1-1 tie to the intermission. Feanny’s game winner came with 25:27 remaining in the second half and the Lady Cats’ held off South Paulding for the final 15 minutes.

Woodland (5-8-1) travels to Cass Friday for both teams’ final region game of the year. The winner will qualify for the state playoffs as the No. 4-seed.



CASS BOYS 1, EAST PAULDING 0


The Cass boys squeaked out a 1-0 home win over Class 6A East Paulding Tuesday night at Cochran Stadium. Kevin Polo scored the game's only goal. Kaleb Speights assisted. Cass coach Justin Fitzgerald credited the Colonels' midfield with strong play that generated plenty of chances. He noted that his club simply struggled to finish on opportunities.


The loss drops East Paulding to 7-7 for the season.


Cass (9-5, 2-2 in Region 7-AAAAA) hosts Woodland Friday night in both teams' final region game. The winner earns the No. 3-seed in the state playoffs. The loser will be the No. 4-seed.
