Lady Tigers suffer road loss to open 2023 softball campaign
The Tigers started fast, scoring four times in the top of the first inning, but Cedartown scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Adairsville in their season opener Friday, 5-4.
Ashlynn Durden led Adairsville’s offense with three hits including a double and one RBI. Ashlyn Carlton had one hit and one RBI. Chelsea Bates and McKenzie Pullam added one hit apiece for the Lady Tigers.
Bates (5.2 IP, 5R, 4ER, 7H, 2BB, 6K) and Madison Baker (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 2K) spent time in Adairsville's pitching circle.
Chasity Washington had two hits to pace the Bulldogs’ offense.
Shailey Pittman (7 IP, 4ER, 6H, 3BB, 5K) went the distance to collect the pitching win for Cedartown (1-0).
Adairsville (0-1) travels to Paulding County for their second straight road game on Monday.
