Late runs cost Adairsville, Woodland in Monday night losses at LakePoint


Adairsville baseball led Armuchee 2-1 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning Monday night at LakePoint in Emerson, but the Indians erupted for four runs in the frame to defeat the Tigers 5-2. Chandler Desanto led Armuchee’s offense with two hits and one RBI. Four other Indians had one hit each.

Will Miller (6 IP, 2R, 1ER, 5H, 1BB, 3K) picked up the pitching win for Armuchee. Jack Rogers (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 1BB, 1K) worked a shutout seventh inning for a save. Armuchee evened its season mark to 3-3.

Adairsville starter Wade Dooley (5 IP, 3ER, 6H, 0BB, 4K) was tagged with the pitching loss. Brenden Carroll (0.0 IP, 2R, 1ER, 0H, 2BB) and Elijah Padgett (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 2BB, 2K) pitched in relief.

Braden Powell had two hits and one RBI for the Tigers. Elijah Padgett had one double. Tyler Driggers and Grayson Belcher added one hit apiece.

Adairsville (3-4) hosts Coosa Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.



McEACHERN 10, WOODLAND 6

Woodland and McEachern battled back-and-forth for six innings Monday night at LakePoint, but it was a four-run, top of the seventh for the Indians that made the difference in a McEachern 10-6 win.

Woodland led 2-1 through three innings but trailed 6-3 before knotting the score at 6-all in the bottom of the sixth.

The Wildcats out hit McEachern ten to five, but also committed four errors in the contest.

Noah Johnson and Reece Kingeter combined for five hits including two doubles and four RBIs to pace the Indians’ offense.

Chase Carson had a three hit game for Woodand and drove in a run. Scotty Smith finished with two hits. Nate Rosser had a hit and two RBIs. Trevor Montgomery (triple), Jacob Gravett, Trevor Collum, and Austin Sanders had one hit each.

Carson (1.1 IP, 4R, 2ER, 1H, 2BB) suffered the pitching loss in relief of starter Rosser (2 IP, 1ER, 3BB, 2K) and reliever Collum (3 IP, 4R, 3ER, 3H, 1BB, 1K). Hunter Shirley (0.2 IP, 1R, 0ER, 1H, 2BB, 1K) retired the final two outs for the Wildcats.

McEachern improved to 7-2 with the victory.

Woodland (3-4) travels to Sprayberry Wednesday for a 5:55 p.m. start.
