Local golfers play in the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship

Cartersville Country Club members R.B. Clyburn and Lee Bowman both played in the 2026 U.S.G.A. Mid-Amateur Championship this weekend at Sand Valley Resort in Nekoosa, Wisconsin, but neither qualified for the 64-player match play portion, which begins Monday.

Two hundred sixty-four players aged 25 and over qualified for the Championship and played 36 holes of stroke play on Saturday and Sunday on two courses — The Lido and Sand Valley.

Clyburn tied for 90th with rounds of 75-72. Bowman shot 77-74 and tied for 151st. Bobby Massa of Dallas, Texas, was the stroke play medalist with rounds of 64-69 (9-under).

The match play rounds begin Monday with the top 64 players and continue through Thursday.
