Local Reinhardt duo heads to NAIA National Championship final round just outside top ten

A pair of former Cartersville High golfers — Chanc Willis and Dalton Henson — have helped Reinhardt University’s men’s team to a tie for eleventh place through the first three rounds of the 2022 NAIA National Championship Tournament.

The tournament is being held at TPC at Deere Run (6,691-yards, par-71) in Silvis, Illinois with the final round Friday.


Willis, who is tied for 42nd individually in the field that started with 156 players, has rounds of 69-77-72 — 218 through the first 54 holes. Henson has rounds of 79-75-77 — 231 and is tied for 90th individually.


Hunter Clay leads the Eagles through the first three rounds (70-68-73—211) and is tied for 12th. Brooks Gineris (71-77-73 — 221) is tied for 54th and Jack Haller (77-76-73 — 226) is tied for 75th.


Keiser University is at the top of the team leaderboard with a 9-under-par 843. Dalton State is two shots back at 845 and Bellevue University (Nebraska) is third at 857. Point University (858) and Ottawa University (Arizona) (860) round out the top five.


Houston-Victoria (864) and Wayland Baptist (864) are tied for sixth. USC-Beaufort (866), British Columbia (867), and Texas Wesleyan (871) complete the top ten heading into the final round.


Seventeen teams and 99 individual players made the 36-hole cut.
