Local XC teams compete in Atlanta Track Club's Wingfoot Classic


The cross country teams from Cartersville, Woodland, and Cass competed Friday in the 9th annual Wingfoot XC Classic at Sam Smith Park in Cartersville.


The event is annually hosted in Cartersville by the Atlanta Track Club and attracts dozens of high school teams from across the Southeast.


Malachi Vosburgh of Cartersville competed as an individual in the Boys Championship race and finished 17th in 15:42. The championship division included 194 runners and was won by Tommy Latham of Marist in 15:02.


In the 1A Division Boys race, Cartersville placed tenth of 39 teams without Vosburgh at the top of their order. The Canes' top runners were Barrett Stepp (16:49), Kaleb Lanier (17:15), Hayden Mitchell (17:37), Carson Robinson (17:37), and Tripp Chitwood (18:07).


The Woodland boys were 17th in the same division. The top Wildcat runners were Landon McSwain (16:43), Juan Mendoza (17:02), Andy Forsyth (17:12), Knox Koontz (18:40), and Will Parker (19:35).


The Cass boys competed in the Classic Division and finished 24th of 34 teams. The top runners for the Colonels were Critton Gearhart (17:30), Leonardo Galeana (19:15), Adam Brush (19:33), Benny Flores (19:52), and Sawyer Foy (20:19).


The Woodland girls finished 24th of 30 teams in the Girls 1A Division. Top runners for the Lady Cats were Miranda Pelow (21:41), Olivia Berry (22:27), Addison Brown (22:54), Abby George (23:35), and Lily Hiott (24:57).


The Cartersville girls were 30th in the same division. Top runners for the Lady Canes were Kylie Ham (23:29), Vivi Vest (23:41), Ella Sabaka (23:58), Jordan Hathaway (24:09), and Hadley Finnemore (24:14).
