Long advances to Girls' State Sectional with an Area 7 title

Adairsville sophomore wrestler Jaylee Long went 4-0 with all wins by pin to capture the Area 7 championship in the 100-pound weight class.

Adairsville High School sophomore Jaylee Long won the Girls' 100-pound weight class of the GHSA Area 7 tournament Friday at LaFayette High School.

Long, who placed fourth in the state last season, moves on to the Girls State Sectionals at East Jackson High School next Saturday, February 7.  The top four from next week’s Sectional will advance to the State Finals Championship in Macon on February 13-15.

Long went 4-0 in the Area tournament, with all four wins by pin. 

The only other local female wrestler in the Area 7 tournament was Irelynn Wilmot of Cass. She went 1-2 in the 120-pound weight class. Her win was by pin.
