March 2024 Elite Athletes of the Month

Elite Stone Supply, in conjunction with WBHF and Bartow Sports Zone, presents the ELITE ATHLETES OF THE MONTH. Each month, local high schools are provided the opportunity to name an Elite Athlete of the Month from their varsity programs and present the information on their honoree through Bartow Sports Zone and on 100.3FM and AM1450, WBHF in Cartersville.

The Adairsville High School Elite Athlete of the Month for March 2024 is Elle Causby. She is a senior midfielder and a captain for the Lady Tigers soccer team. Causby is a four-year starter and has developed into a leader for her team.

“It is a joy to coach Elle each season,” said Adairsville head coach David Sexauer. “She sets the example of what a teammate should be and is a consistent performer on the pitch. She has the perfect blend of high character, work ethic, and competitive nature that makes her successful under the pressure of intense game situations. She elevates the team through personal examples of good sportsmanship and treats all players with respect. She is always focused on improving on the field and in the classroom.”

Causby is the daughter of Angie Newman. She maintains a 3.7 GPA and plans on attending Kennesaw State University to become a dental hygienist.

Will Feuerbach is the March 2024 Elite Athlete of the Month representing Cartersville High School.

A junior on the Canes’ football and track & field teams, he is the son of Marc and Rebekah Feuerbach.

Feuerbach has won three 800-meter races in the past four weeks and has set a new personal record of 1:59.10. He also competes in the 400-meter dash and is a member of the Hurricanes’ 4x400-meter relay team.

“Will is curious, competent, competitive, and the epitome of a student-athlete,” noted coach Shannon Dietrich. “He is practicing and focusing on racing people, not clocks, to be in the best position to win races for his team and himself.

Feuerbach is the Junior Class President, head chair of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a Beta Club member, and a member of the Principal’s Leadership team. He takes all Advanced Placement and Honors classes and maintains a 4.5 GPA.

He aspires to run at an NCAA D-I program and continue his athletic and academic career.

The March 2024 Elite Athlete of the Month for Cass High School is Kaitlyn Godwin.

The daughter of James and Megan Godwin, she is a four-year varsity track team member and a four-year member of the Lady Colonels basketball team.

Godwin, a senior, has been a top sprinter for the Colonels’ track team since arriving at Cass High School. She is a two-time state qualifier in the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter events. She also is the reigning Bartow County champion in those events. In 2023, Godwin placed sixth in Class 5A in the 200-meter dash. She was also seventh in the 100-meter and eighth in the 400-meter. In her high school career, she has never finished below second place in any of her Region events and has placed first in each of the past two seasons.

“Kaitlyn is an extremely dedicated runner and works very hard to be one of the top runners in the state of Georgia,” from Athletic Director Nicky Moore. “She has been an absolute pleasure to coach and there is no doubt Kaitlyn will continue her hard work in the next chapter of her athletic and academic career.”

Godwin carries a 3.9 GPA and is committed to North Florida University on a track scholarship.

Chris Sanchez represents Woodland High School as the school’s March 2024 Elite Athlete of the Month.

A senior forward/striker on the Wildcats’ soccer team, Sanchez is a team captain with 26 goals and four assists already this season.

“Chris is a one-of-a-kind player,” said Woodland coach Phil Sandifer. “He is the hardest worker on the field and a true team player. He leads selflessly and has a quiet confidence that exudes through his teammates. Chris is a pleasure to coach and I look forward to watching him complete his senior year.”

He is the son of Laura Colin.
