Nationally ranked Wallace State completes season sweep of Chargers


Georgia Highlands softball dropped both games of a home, non-conference doubleheader Thursday at Stars Field. The Chargers lost 9-0 and 11-1 to the Wallace State Lions.


Wallace State completed a four-game season series sweep over the Chargers and the Lions, ranked 2nd nationally in the NJCAA DI polls, improved to 28-0 on the season.


Wallace State utilized four different pitchers on the day and limited Georgia Highlands to only four hits total in the two games. The Lions’ hurlers combined for 16 strikeouts in the doubleheader.


The only Georgia Highlands run of the day came on a solo home run by Allison Deweese in the second game.


Madison Dennis had the Chargers only hit in the opener. Annsley Todd added a base hit in Game 2.


Georgia Highlands (6-18) travels to Roane State next Tuesday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader and begins conference play next weekend with doubleheaders at South Georgia State Friday and at Abraham Baldwin Saturday.
