Purple Hurricanes win in 10 innings at Adairsville


It took ten innings Friday night but Cartersville erupted for seven runs in the top of that frame to pull out a 13-6 win at Adairsville.


The Canes led 5-0 through two innings and 6-1 going to the bottom of the seventh when the host Tigers posted a five-spot to send the game into extra innings.


The two teams battled scoreless in the eighth and ninth innings before Cartersville scored seven runs on three hits. The Canes also took advantage of two walks, two hit batsmen, a wild pitch, and an error in the decisive half inning.


Miles Owen had two hits for Cartersville with one RBI. Harrison Childers and Ian McNair-Siegler (double) both had one hit and three RBIs. Luke Miller, Caleb Daniel (RBI), Trip Bradley, and Paul Gamble finished with one hit apiece. Landon Cole contributed one RBI.


Evan Sanders had two hits and one RBI for the Tigers. Braxton Ryan doubled and had three RBIs. Jarrett Scott (RBI), Chris Roper, and Landon O’Neal added one hit each for Adairsville.


Phillip Schiltz (2.2 IP, 1ER, 1H, 3BB, 7K) picked up the pitching win for Cartersville in relief. Ryan Johnson (5 IP, 1ER, 3H, 2BB, 7K) started on the mound for the Canes. Dawson Bishop (1.1 IP, 4R, 3ER, 2H, 3BB, 1K) and Nicholas Hruby (1 IP, 1K) also pitched.


Jarrett Scott (3.2 IP, 4ER, 2H, 3BB, 5K) took the pitching loss for Adairsville. Grayson Belcher (3.1 IP, 6R, 1ER, 2H, 4BB, 4K) started for the Tigers. Dawson Craig (2.2 IP, 0R, 2H, 3BB, 5K) and Jack Whitley (0.1 IP, 3ER, 2H, 1BB, 1K) also pitched in the contest.


Adairsville (6-4) visits Cartersville (7-2) at Richard Bell Field Saturday at 12 noon.
