Ramblers take early lead, defeat Adairsville


LaFayette scored four runs in the top of the first inning Tuesday and built a 6-0 lead on their way to a 6-1 Region 6-AAA win at Adairsville.

Ramblers pitcher Davis Richardson tossed a complete game yielding the lone run on four hits with no walks. He struck out eleven.

Elijah Padgett drove in the only Adairsville run with a single to right field in the sixth inning. Logan Hunt, Evan Sanders, and Landon O’Neal had the other Tigers base hits.

Padgett (2 IP, 5ER, 4H, 4BB, 4K) started on the mound and was tagged with the loss. Brenden Carroll (5 IP, 1R, 0ER, 3H, 1BB, 6K) finished the final five innings scattering three hits.

LaFayette evened its season mark at 12-12 overall. The Ramblers improved to 6-8 in Region 6-AAA. Adairsville (8-16, 3-11) plays at Rockmart Thursday and will host the Yellow Jackets Friday to wrap up the 2021 campaign. Both games are 5:55 p.m. starts.
