Region 6-AAA track and field championship continues Wednesday for Adairsville athletes

The Adairsville boys team is in third place and the Adairsville girls are fourth after one day of competition in the Region 6-AAA Track and Field Championships at Rockmart High School.

Rockmart leads both the girls and boys standings with Coahulla Creek and Sonoraville also in the top four girls and boys teams along with the Tigers.

The region finals for the running events will continue Wednesday at Rockmart.

Adairsville athletes qualifying for the region finals included: Tre Mitchell (400M, 200M), Amya Arnold (100M, 200M), Aliya McBryde (100M, 100M Hurdles, 200M), Tokyo Gordon (110M Hurdles), Callie Viktora (800M), Christian Gough (800M), Keyonce Pitts (200M), Kayli Hilburn (300M Hurdles), and Noah Matthews (300M Hurdles).

The field event finals were completed Monday with the top four placers qualifying for the Class AAA State Sectionals May 8 at Lakewood Stadium in Atlanta. Adairsville’s State Sectional qualifiers included Kayli Hilburn and Skylar Caudill in shot put, Tre Mitchell and T.J. Printup in high jump, and Dylan Matthews in long jump.
