Road losses Thursday for Cass, Adairsville

Cass softball lost both games of a non-region doubleheader at Pickens Thursday night while Adairsville suffered a 9-1 region loss at LaFayette.
PICKENS 8, CASS 0
Pickens hurlers Emma Black and Cheyenne Coleman combined for five strikeouts and shutout Cass in the first of two games Thursday evening in Jasper.
The Colonels were limited to just four hits in the loss.
Alexis Woods, Haylee Dishmon, Ansley Hight, and KK Evans had one hit each.
Emma Gibson (5 IP, 8R, 6ER, 9H, 5BB) was the losing pitcher for Cass.
PICKENS 10, CASS 2
Lexi Grizzle picked up where the two Pickens pitchers left off in the first game as the Lady Dragons won Game 2 of Thursday’s doubleheader with Cass.
Grizzle tossed a complete game for Pickens, struck out four, and allowed only three Cass hits.
Reese Howard had a double and one RBI for the Colonels. Haylee Dishmon and Harlee Thomason had the other Cass hits.
Bailey York (3 IP, 7R, 6ER, 5H, 5BB) started in the circle for the locals and was tagged with the pitching loss. Alexis Woods (1 IP, 3R, 1ER, 2H) also pitched in the loss.
Pickens improved to 9-6 on the season.
Cass (6-8, 3-2) returns to Region 7-5A action Tuesday at Dalton with first pitch scheduled for 5:55 p.m.
LAFAYETTE 9, ADAIRSVILLE 1
The Adairsville Lady Tigers were limited to just a pair of hits Thursday at LaFayette and dropped a 9-1 Region 6-AAA decision on the Ramblers home field.
The game was tied 1-1 heading to the bottom of the fourth inning when LaFayette posted four runs to take control. The Ramblers added four more runs over the final two innings for their victory.
Megan Gregory, who suffered the pitching loss, had a double at the plate. McKenzie Pullam had the other Lady Tigers’ base hit.
Jordan Clay pitched in relief for Adairsville.
LaFayette improved to 9-2-1 overall and 4-0 in region play.
Adairsville (5-6-1, 1-3) hosts Ridgeland Wednesday and Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Thursday. Both games are 5:30 p.m. starts.
