Saturday's local hoops roundup: Adairsville girls open the season with a win



Savannah Viktora grabs a rebound in the Lady Tigers' win this past Saturday against Darlington.

The Adairsville Lady Tigers opened their 2023-24 basketball season Saturday with a 47-21 win over visiting Darlington.


The Adairsville girls led 18-5 at the end of the first quarter and held a 35-9 advantage at halftime.


Zariyah Hicks led the Lady Tigers in the scoring column with nine points. Alissa Winters followed with seven. Darby Adams and NaXyria Roberts finished with six points each while Alivia Joslin and Aliya McBryde added five each.


Emma Hunt led Darlington with seven points.


Adairsville (1-0) hosts Model on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. and will play two games on Tuesday facing Gilmer at 3 p.m. and Dalton in a 7:30 p.m. matchup.







CARROLLTON 74, CARTERSVILLE GIRLS 27


The Lady Canes fell behind early and never recovered Saturday while taking on the host Carrollton Lady Trojans at the Carrollton Girls Night Out showcase.


Carrollton led 15-7 after one quarter and built a 38-13 lead by the intermission.


Madison Swint led Carrollton (1-0) with 17 points.


Senai Camper scored seven points for Cartersville. KK Arnold, Ansley Griffin, and Zoie Shiflett added five each for the Lady Canes.


Cartersville (1-1) hosts East Paulding on Tuesday, November 28





RIDGELAND 78, WOODLAND BOYS 59


The Woodland boys basketball team lost this past Saturday afternoon at Ridgeland, 78-59. 


Ridgeland improved to 2-0 on the season while Woodland fell to 0-2.


The Wildcats play at Armuchee on Monday night at 6:30 p.m.
