Second quarter surge lifts Woodland to win over Unity Christian
The Woodland boys used a 23-point second quarter Friday night to build a 37-19 lead by halftime in an eventual 10-point win over visiting Unity Christian of Rome.
The Wildcats led 50-33 after three quarters and held on for a 66-56 victory in their final tune-up before starting region play next week.
K.J. Rogers led Woodland with 21 points. Jayden Hames and Brelace Williams followed with 13 and 10, respectively.
Austin Wilkerson scored a game-hit 32 points to pace the visiting Lions (3-9). Bailey Mohler added 17.
Woodland (5-7) begins Region 7-AAAAA play Tuesday night at home against Blessed Trinity.
UNITY CHRISTIAN 36, WOODLAND GIRLS 30
Bekah Wisener scored 13 points and Lizzy Pardue added 10 as Unity Christian won at Woodland Friday night, 36-30.
Abigail Taylor paced the Lady Cats with 17 points. Dylynn Motes added six points for Woodland.
Unity Christian improved to 5-6 with their win.
Woodland (2-11) hosts Blessed Trinity to begin region play Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
LAKEVIEW-FORT OGLETHORPE 69, ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 31
The Class AAA 5th-ranked Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe girls raced to a 26-6 first quarter lead and never trailed in a 69-31 win over visiting Adairsville Friday night. The host Lady Warriors led 38-19 at halftime and held a 57-22 advantage after three quarters.
Christen Collins led LFO with 27 points. Angel Simmons and Christina Collins both scored 16 for the Lady Warriors.
Haley Stiles led Adairsville with eight points.
LFO improved to 15-0 on the season and 7-0 in Region 6-AAA. Adairsville (9-5, 3-4) travels to North Murray for another region game Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
LAKEVIEW-FORT OGLETHORPE 74, ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 65
The Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe Warriors, ranked No. 10 in Class AAA, remained undefeated for the season Friday night with a 74-65 Region 6-AAA win over visiting Adairsville.
LFO led 22-17 after eight minutes; 43-31 at the intermission; and 57-44 through three quarters on their way to a nine-point win.
Jamichael Davis scored a game-high 31 points to lead LFO. Keenan Walker followed with 22 points and Brent Bowman added 14 for the Warriors (14-0, 7-0)
T.J. Printup poured in 28 points to lead Adairsville. Hayden Poarch finished with 12 points and Tre Winters added 11 for the Tigers.
Adairsville (8-5, 5-2) travels to North Murray Tuesday night.
EXCEL CHRISTIAN GAME POSTPONED
The Excel Christian Academy boys' game scheduled for Friday at Dalton's Christian Heritage was postponed.
