Shiflett deals and homers for Lady Canes in thriller; Lady Tigers roll at Walker

Cartersville pitcher Zoie Shiflett threw a seven-inning complete-game shutout on Wednesday at Dellinger Park and hit a game-winning solo home run to lead off the sixth inning as the Lady Canes edged River Ridge, 1-0.

Shiflett scattered four hits and issued no walks from the pitching circle. She struck out two.

LaKiaya Banks had two hits for Cartersville. Izzy Tummins and Sam Porter each added one hit.

The loss dropped the Knights to 10-6.

Cartersville (17-2, 10-0 Region 7-5A) visits Woodland on Thursday at 5:55 p.m. and will host North Paulding (10 a.m.) and Lassiter (2 p.m.) on Saturday.

ADAIRSVILLE 19, WALKER 2

The Adairsville Lady Tigers cruised to a 19-2 non-region win on Wednesday at Walker in Marietta. Adairsville piled up 19 hits and scored in all four of its offensive frames.

Heidi Rickett collected the pitching win for the Tigers, working all four innings in the circle. She allowed two earned runs on five hits and four walks. Rickett struck out four.

Ansley Powell led the Adairsville offense with four hits, including a home run, two doubles, and five RBI. Sydney Satterfield finished with three hits. Lily Brookshire (home run, four RBI) and Chloe Hill (home run, three RBI) each contributed two hits. Khloe Shinall (two RBI), McKenzly Atkins (RBI), Rickett (RBI), Layla Whitener (RBI), Paislee Rooks (RBI), Ellie Smith, Olivia Stanfill, and Lillianne Gunter each added one hit.

The loss dropped Walker to 1-9.

Adairsville (13-6) hosts Northwest Whitfield in a Region 7-4A game on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and visits Heritage-Catoosa on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
