Georgia Highlands College softball had a thirteen-game winning streak snapped by Calhoun Community College on Tuesday at Carol Brown Field on the Cartersville campus but recovered in the second game to earn a doubleheader split.
The Warhawks pounded eleven hits in the opening game and pushed runs across in each of the first four innings to build a 10-1 lead. The Chargers scored single runs in the first and fifth innings.
Grace Kendrick (2.1 IP, 6ER, 6H, 2BB, 1K) started in the circle for GHC and was saddled with the pitching loss. Athens Hudson (1 IP, 4ER, 1K) and Hannah Mounce (1.2 IP, 1H) also pitched in the Chargers’ loss.

Emma Darrow finished with two hits for GHC in the opening game. Cayden Warren (RBI) and S Barker (triple) added one hit. Ahmani Green drove in one run.
Sophomore Hayden Joyner tossed a seven-inning one-hitter in the second game to clip Calhoun CC 2-1. The Bryan County High School product faced only two batters over the minimum and struck out one. The Warhawks’ run scored in the third inning to tie the game 1-1 following their only base hit.
GHC regained the lead for good in the bottom of the third inning. Darrow doubled with one out, stole third, and scored on a ground ball and infield error by the Warhawks.
Green (double, RBI) and Darrow (double, triple) led the Chargers’ offense with two hits. Chloe Fowler, Warren, and Joyner added one hit.
The two-game split left Calhoun CC with a 7-3 record.
Georgia Highlands (18-2) hosts Chattanooga State CC for a doubleheader on Friday, with the first pitch slated for 2 p.m.
