Strong third quarter lifts Hurricanes; Cass edged by Roswell

In their final tune-up before Region 7-AAAAA play begins Tuesday night, the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes defeated visiting Cedartown Saturday night at The Storm Center 70-57.

The Canes broke open a close game in the third quarter by doubling up the Bulldogs in the period 24-12. The score was tied 13-13 after one quarter and 28-28 at halftime before Cartersville took control.

Kam Callahan led the Hurricanes with 28 points including six made three-pointers. Romo Pace finished with 17 points and Luke Gambill added 12 for Cartersville.

M.J. Holiday scored a game-high 30 points for Cedartown (4-7) but was limited to only nine points in the second half.

Cartersville (7-4) hosts Cass Tuesday night.





ROSWELL 47, CASS 46

The visiting Hornets made a three-point shot with just 13 seconds remaining to regain the lead and hold off Cass Saturday evening 47-46.

The Colonels’ Devin Henderson, who finished with 11 points, had a last second shot but failed to connect. Cass led 11-7 after one period and 18-17 at halftime, but Roswell took a 35-26 lead heading into the final eight minutes. The game was knotted at 38-all midway through the fourth quarter.

Jayden Foster led Cass with 15 points. Jackson Hale added nine in the loss,

Quinton Partee paced Roswell (11-5) with 19 points. Jackson Kemp added 15 for the Hornets.

Cass (6-8) opens Region 7-AAAAA action Tuesday night at Cartersville in a 7:30 p.m. start preceded by the two schools’ girls game at 6 p.m.
