Three Canes set new school records at Purple Hurricane Track & Field Invitational

The Cartersville High School track and field teams hosted the Purple Hurricane Invitational this past Saturday, with 14 boys teams and 13 girls teams participating.

The Cartersville boys scored 98 points and finished runner-up to Alexander (150.5). Cherokee (63.5), Darlington (62.5), and Woodstock (55) rounded out the top five. The Woodland boys finished eleventh with 17.5 points.

Woodstock (121) won the girls' title, followed by Cherokee (76), Alexander (75), Cartersville (61), and North Cobb (59) in the top five. The Woodland girls placed 12th with 23 points.

Carder Brock, Madoxx Davis, and Thoreau Lipscomb established new school records for Cartersville. Brock won the girls' discus throw with a throw of 125 feet, setting a new program mark. Davis won the boys' 100-meter dash with a school record time of 10.65, and Lipscomb won the boys' shot put with a new school-best mark of 57 feet, 11 inches.
