Three-run sixth lifts McEachern past Woodland

McEachern scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on Saturday to go up by a run and stopped Woodland in the top of the seventh to win 4-3.


The Indians led 1-0 after one inning but Woodland grabbed a 2-1 advantage in the second. The score remained 2-1 until McEachern’s three-run sixth.


Ayden Ray (5.1 IP, 3ER, 5H, 1BB, 6K) made the pitching start for the Wildcats. Lucas Baker (0.2 IP, 1ER, 1H, 2BB, 1K) suffered the pitching loss in relief.


Woodland managed only three hits. One each by Connor Stermer (double), Conner Lujan, and Jake Clowers.


McEachern improved to 11-13 for the season.


Woodland (11-11, 2-4) returns to Region 7-5A action on Tuesday at Calhoun at 5:55 p.m. The three-game series continues at Woodland on Thursday and back at Calhoun on Friday.
