The softball teams at Cartersville, Cass, and Woodland each won Region 7-5A games on Thursday.
CARTERSVILLE 5, ALLATOONA 2
Cartersville softball scored all five of its runs in the top of the second inning Thursday night, and it was enough to win at Allatoona, 5-2.
Presley Crabbe (4 IP, 2ER, 5H, 2BB, 6K) and Zoie Shiflett (3 IP, 0R, 2H, 0BB, 2K) shared the pitching duties for the Lady Canes.
LaKiaya Banks (double, two RBI), Carder Brock (RBI), and Sam Porter each had two hits for Cartersville. Izzy Tummins (RBI), Kennedy Crenshaw (double), Taryn Bradley (double, RBI), and Sophia Harper each added one hit.
The loss dropped the Lady Bucs to 6-7 overall and 4-5 in Region 7-5A.
The Lady Canes (16-2, 10-0) host River Ridge on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and visit Woodland on Thursday at 5:55 p.m.
CASS 3, CEDARTOWN 1
The Lady Colonels trailed the host Bulldogs 1-0 entering the seventh inning Thursday night, but put together a two-out, three-run rally to win 3-1.
Cass strung together four singles and a walk to produce the game-winning runs.
That was enough for Lady Colonels’ pitcher Kylie Gentry, who pitched all seven innings, allowing just one run on five hits and one walk. She fanned six.
Natalie Hughes had three hits to lead the Cass offense. Gentry followed with two hits, including one double and two RBIs. Maci Walker had one hit and one RBI. Addy Bauder added one hit for the Colonels.
The loss dropped Cedartown to 5-7 overall and 2-5 in Region 7-5A.
Cass (6-5, 5-4) hosts Woodland on Tuesday at 5:55 p.m.
WOODLAND 10, DALTON 1
The Lady Cats posted runs in four of their five offensive frames and cruised to a 10-1 win in five innings on Thursday night at Dalton.
Evelyne Tucker (5 IP, 1R, 0ER, 3H, 3BB, 7K) collected the Wildcats’ pitching win.
Lillian Hollis homered, doubled, and had four RBIs for the Lady Cats. Bella Kuykendall and Bailey Ryan (double) each had two hits and one RBI. Gracie Korb (RBI), Charlotte Petersen (RBI), and Sis Pirkle each added one hit.
Dalton dropped to 1-10 overall and 0-7 in Region 7-5A.
Woodland (7-9, 3-5) visits Cass on Tuesday at 5:55 p.m. and hosts Cartersville on Thursday at 5:55 p.m.
RIDGELAND 6, ADAIRSVILLE 5
The Ridgeland Lady Panthers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday night in Rossville to walk off with a 6-5 victory over the Adairsville Tigers.
Adairsville led 5-1 through two frames, but the Panthers scored five unanswered runs down the stretch to escape with the win.
Chloe Hill (0.0 IP, 1ER, 2H, 1BB) was charged with the pitching loss for Adairsville in relief of starter Paislee Rooks (6 IP, 5ER, 9H, 2BB, 5K).
Hill led the offense with three doubles and one RBI. Sydney Satterfield had two hits, including one double and three RBIs. Ashlynn Durden (RBI), Hynleigh Statham (double), Madison Brookshire, and Lillianne Gunter each added one hit for the Tigers.
Ridgeland improved to 12-2 overall and 6-2 in Region 7-4A.
Adairsville (11-6, 6-2) plays at Coahulla Creek on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
