Thursday's softball roundup: Tigers win in walk off fashion

RBI singles by Katie Anglian and Ashlynn Durden in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday night lifted Adairsville to a 3-2 walk-off, Region 6-AAA win over visiting Ringgold.
Ringgold took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and Adairsville scored a run in the bottom of the second narrowing the margin to 2-1. The score remained that way until the Tigers’ productive seventh.
Adairsville pitchers Madison Baker (4 IP, 2ER, 5H, 1BB, 1K), Chelsea Bates (2.2 IP, 0R, 2H, 5BB, 2K), and Ashlyn Carlton (0.1 IP) shared duties in the pitching circle for the Tigers.
Durden and Brie Patterson finished with two hits and one RBI each for Adairsville. Gabi Becerra and Anglian (RBI) added one hit each.
The loss dropped Ringgold to 7-11 overall and 4-5 in region play.
Adairsville (3-13, 2-7) has a doubleheader Saturday with Armuchee.
WOODLAND 12, HIRAM 4

The Lady Cats outhit the visiting Hornets fourteen to five Thursday night and overpowered Hiram in five innings, 12-4.
Peyton Dorn (3 IP, 4R, 2ER, 4H, 0BB, 2K) picked up the pitching win. Haley Collum (2 IP, 0R, 1H, 2BB, 4K) also pitched for Woodland.
Elizabeth Hartsfield had four hits including a home run, a double, and three RBIs to lead the Lady Cats’ offense. Alana Carnes followed with three hits and two RBIs. Kamryn Smith (triple, two RBIs) and Bailey Ryan (triple, RBI) contributed two hits each. Lainey Calhoun (RBI), Taylor Adcock (two RBIs), and Peyton Dorn (double) added one hit apiece.
The loss dropped Hiram to 7-12 on the season and 1-10 in Region 7-5A.
Woodland (15-6, 8-3) travels to Forsyth on Saturday to play Mary Persons and Crawford County.
CALHOUN 6, CASS 1
Calhoun pitcher, Ansley Hall, carried a shutout into the seventh inning Thursday night at Cass and held on to beat the Colonels 6-1.
Hall allowed an earned run in the bottom of the seventh but limited Cass to six hits and one walk. The Calhoun hurler struck out seven.
Emma Gibson (4 IP, 6ER, 11H, 2BB, 1K) was tagged with the pitching loss. Lily Powell (3 IP, 0R, 0H) worked three innings in the circle for Cass.
Lyla West and Breanna Baker had three hits each to lead the Calhoun offense. Avery Greeson homered.
Harlee Thomason had two hits and one RBI for Cass. Darianna Sosa, Cayce Brown (double), Payton Mize, and Erin Clinard added one hit apiece.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 13-7-1 overall and 10-1 in region play.
Cass (7-14, 2-8 Region 7-5A) plays at Trion on Saturday at 11 a.m. and returns to region play Tuesday at Dalton at 5:30 p.m.
NORTH COBB 14, CARTERSVILLE 7
The Lady Canes challenged undefeated Class 7A North Cobb Thursday night but lost on the Warriors’ home field, 14-7.
North Cobb led 8-0 after three innings but Cartersville scored five times in the fourth inning to narrow the margin to 8-5. The Warriors would later add three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to pull away.
Jordan Bishop had three hits including a double and two RBIs for Cartersville. Layne Callan finished with two hits including a double and one RBI. Addie Burns also had two hits for the Hurricanes. Kennedy Crenshaw hit a two-run homer. Erin McCrary, Allana Williams, and Reese Dumas added one hit apiece.
Zoie Shiflett (4 IP, 10R, 7ER, 11H, 2BB, 1K) and Ansleigh Tilley (2 IP, 4ER, 2H, 3BB)
North Cobb improved to 16-0 with the victory.
Cartersville (12-6, 8-2) returns to Region 7-5A action Monday at Hiram.
