Thursday’s volleyball roundup: Cartersville, Woodland, and Adairsville collect wins

LADY CANES COLLECT HOME WINS

The Cartersville volleyball team defeated Walton and Calhoun on Thursday at the Storm Center.

The Lady Canes dropped the first set to Walton 12-25, but rallied in the final two sets, winning 25-22 and 16-14.

Cartersville also earned a 25-20, 25-13 win over Calhoun

The Lady Canes (17-4, 2-0 Region 7-4A) visit Cass on Thursday, September 4 to face the host Colonels and Allatoona in region matches.

WOODLAND TOPS DALTON ACADEMY AND GORDON CENTRAL

The Lady Cats won twice on Thursday with victories over Dalton Academy (25-22, 25-12) and Gordon Central (25-13, 25-22).

Izzy Hazelwood had four kills, 12 digs, and five service aces in the win over Dalton Academy. Aby Childs finished with four kills, four digs, and one ace.

Against Gordon Central, Hazelwood had two kills, six digs, and three aces. Alex Williams contributed four kills, two aces, and one block, while Camilla Ferguson added six assists, eight digs, and two aces.

Woodland (4-12, 0-2) travels to Paulding County on Tuesday to play the host Patriots and Cedartown.

ADAIRSVILLE WINS THREE-SET MATCH WITH SONORAVILLE

The Lady Tigers held on Thursday to win a three-set contest with Sonoraville 25-14, 19-25, and 15-7.

Alexis Scott had seven kills. Nadelyn Dodson totaled seven digs. Alexa Wynn finished with three assists, and Ansley Mims contributed two blocks and two kills.

Adairsville dropped their second match on Thursday with Pickens 23-25 and 26-28. Wynn had eight digs and three aces. Scott contributed seven digs and three kills. Dodson added nine digs.

Adairsville (6-12, 1-1 Region 7-3A) plays at Heritage-Catoosa on Thursday, September 4 and will also square off with Gilmer.

CASS FALLS TO COOSA AND TRION

The Lady Colonels lost a pair of non-region matches on Thursday, falling to Coosa 7-25, 13-25 and Trion 14-25, 7-25.

Cass (2-12, 0-1 Region 7-4A) hosts Allatoona and Cartersville on Thursday, September 4.
