Tigers take two from Greyhounds

The Adairsville Tigers completed a doubleheader sweep of visiting Jones County on Saturday winning the first game 10-4 and the second game 9-0.
The Tigers took advantage of a seven-run, fourth inning to beat the Greyhounds in the opener. The big inning included three walks, three Adairsville hits, and two Jones County errors.
Ryan Farr (2.1 IP, 1ER, 1H, 4BB, 1K) picked up the pitching win in the opener in relief of starter Dawson Craig (4 IP, 3ER, 4H, 3BB, 6K). Hudson Parr (0.2 IP) retired the final two outs to close the seventh inning.
In Game 2, three Adairsville pitchers — Kaiden Coker, McCayden Hufstetler, and Jarrett Scott — shut out the Greyhounds and limited them to only three hits and four walks. The Tiger trio struck out six.
Peyton Bowen led the Tigers’ offense with four hits and four RBIs in the doubleheader. Five other Adairsville hitters — Harrison Cole (RBI), Jack Nelson (double, four RBIs), Scott (double, sac fly, two RBIs), and Hayden Blalock (triple, two RBIs) had two hits.
Braxton Ryan, Brody Varner, PJ Weeks, and Lucas Henry added one hit for the Tigers. Farr produced one RBI.
The losses drop Jones County to 5-8 on the season.
Adairsville (7-3) begins Region 6-AAA play on Tuesday at home against Ridgeland (10-0) at 5:55 p.m.
