Tigers top Ramblers for region win


The Adairsville Tigers used a four-run fourth inning Friday night to move ahead of LaFayette and held on to beat the visiting Ramblers, 9-7.


Scoring came easy for both teams in the first two innings.


LaFayette posted four runs in the first and one more in the second. Adairsville answered with three runs in the first and two more in the second to make the score 5-5.


The Tigers went ahead 9-5 in the fourth and LaFayette threatened with a pair of runs in the sixth inning, but got no closer.



For Adairsville, it was just the second region win in their last ten region games.


Jack Nelson (5 IP, 5R, 4ER, 5H, 3BB, 1K) picked up the pitching win for Tigers with five innings of work. Peyton Bowen (2 IP, 2ER, 3H, 1K) held off the Ramblers in the final two innings to earn a save.


Braden Powell finished with three hits for the Tigers with two RBIs. Evan Sanders had two hits with three RBIs. Carroll contributed two hits and one RBI. Whitley (double), Dawson Craig, and Chris Roper (double) tossed in two hits apiece. Tyler Driggers added one hit and one RBI.


The loss dropped LaFayette to 7-18 on the season and 2-11 in Region 6-AAA.


Adairsville (10-12, 5-8) travels to LaFayette Tuesday to complete the two-game series. The matchup is scheduled for a 5:55 p.m. first pitch.
