Tigers' triumph: combined effort on mound, big innings bury Colonels for Roper's 300th career coaching win

McCayden Hufstetler and Westin Barfield teamed up on the mound to achieve a shutout, while the Adairsville Tigers scored four runs in the fourth inning and six more in the sixth, securing a 10-0 victory at Cass on Wednesday evening.


The win was also the 300th career coaching victory for Adairsville's Billy Roper.


Hufstetler struck out nine and allowed just three hits and one walk in five innings. Barfield gave up one hit and struck out one in relief.

Tyler Parker (double, five RBI) and Barfield (RBI) had two hits for the Tigers. Harrison Cole (double, two RBI) and Hudson Parr added one hit in Adairsville’s win.


Cass utilized four pitchers with starter Dustin Wallin (3.1 IP, 4ER, 3H, 1BB, 8K) tagged with the loss. Easton Lee (1.2 IP, 0R, 0BB, 3K), Darren Cole (0.1 IP, 5ER, 1H, 3BB), and Landon Lamb (0.2 IP, 1ER, 2H) pitched in relief for the Colonels.


Wallin had two hits, including a double. Zach Stiles (double) and Kasey Jacobs had the other Cass base hits.


Adairsville (2-0) hosts Darlington on Thursday at 5 p.m. and Woodland on Monday at 5:30 p.m.


Cass (0-1) has home games on Saturday with East Paulding at 11 a.m. and Sonoraville at 4 p.m.  The Colonels will also host Model on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
