Adairsville’s volleyball team split matches at home Thursday night with the Tigers defeating Coosa 25-23, 25-9 but losing to Dalton 25-18, 25-14.

“The girls fought hard tonight and played for their loved ones who are battling breast cancer or have battled the disease. That’s a win no matter how you slice it in my book,” said Adairsville head coach Kailey Vaughn Martin.

A portion of the money raised at the Lady Tigers’ home match Thursday will go to the Melanie Vaughn Memorial Suite at the Harris Radiation Center and the Melanie Vaughn Memorial Scholarship Fund.

In the win over Coosa, Addie Pearson had three kills, two blocks, and seven assists. Jenna Claire Hendley finished with three kills and two blocks. Jordan Hartline and Jayna Wilson totaled five and four kills, respectively. Annie McCormick shared seven assists and Sherry Wells contributed 16 digs.

In the loss to Dalton, Wells had seven digs. Wilson had two kills and a pair of blocks. McCormick totaled three assists and Richlyn Blair produced two kills.

Adairsville, now 9-15-2, will square off with Cartersville Saturday morning at 8 a.m. in the opening round of the Bartow County Championship Tournament hosted by Cass High School.
