Isaac Burnett had two hits Thursday night in the Tigers' walk-off win over Heritage-Catoosa.

It took an extra inning, but the Adairsville Tigers won a back-and-forth Region 7-AAA struggle with visiting Heritage-Catoosa on Thursday night, 7-6.

The Tigers led 3-0 after one inning on an RBI single by Jack Nelson and a two-run home run by Braxton Ryan, but the Generals scored two in the second, two in the third, and one more in the top of the fifth inning to build a 5-3 lead.

RBI singles by Nelson and Brody Varner knotted the score at 5-all in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Following a scoreless sixth inning, Heritage regained the lead in the top of the seventh on an Adairsville throwing error. However, the Tigers answered in the bottom of the inning on Harrison Cole’s RBI infield single.

The Generals failed to score in the top of the eighth, and Nelson’s RBI double in the bottom of the inning forced home the Tigers’ walk-off run.

McCayden Hufstetler (3.2 IP, 4R, 2ER, 2H, 4BB, 3K) made the pitching start for Adairsville. Kaiden Coker (4 IP, 2R, 1ER, 3H, 3BB, 6K) took the mound in the fourth inning and pitched into the eighth. Jarrett Scott (0.1 IP, 0R, 0H, 1BB) was credited with the pitching win after retiring the final out in the top of the eighth.

The Tigers outhit the Generals eighteen to five.

Nelson led the offense with four hits, including one double and four RBI. Ryan (home run, two RBI), Varner (double, RBI), Cole (RBI), Isaac Burnett, Peyton Bowen, and Scott contributed two hits. Ethan Long and Hudson Parr added one hit.

Adairsville (12-6, 7-4) heads to Ringgold on Friday to complete the region three-game series with Heritage-Catoosa (12-7, 6-2).
