Tigers win opening round game in region tourney

The Adairsville Tigers opened play in the Region 7-AAA basketball tournament on Saturday afternoon at home with a 67-59 win over Ridgeland.
For the 6th-seeded Tigers, it was their third win this season over the 7th-seeded Panthers. Adairsville won at Ridgeland in early January 53-29 and beat the Panthers 62-39 on January 30.
No individual stats or details were provided.
The season ended for Ridgeland with an 8-18 record.
Adairsville (5-21) advanced to play 3rd-seeded Northwest Whitfield on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Tunnel Hill.
