Tigers win series with LaFayette, strengthen post-season position

The Adairsville Tigers pounded out fourteen hits Friday night at LaFayette to defeat the Ramblers 12-5 in the third game of the two teams’ series during the week.
LaFayette won the series opener on Tuesday in Walker County 4-1, but the Tigers took the series with a 3-1 win on Thursday at home and Friday night’s victory.
Adairsville posted seven runs in the first three innings on Friday to build a five-run lead. The Ramblers narrowed the Tigers’ advantage to 8-5 in the sixth inning, but Adairsville secured the win by scoring four times in the seventh.
Kaden Coker (5 IP, 2R, 1ER, 3H, 2BB, 8K) collected the pitching win for the Tigers. Bryson Weaver (0.1 IP, 3ER, 1H, 3BB, 1K) and Tyler Parker (1.2 IP, 0R, 1H, 1BB, 3K) closed out the final two frames on the mound.
The Ramblers slipped to 12-16 overall and 3-15 in Region 7-AAA.
Adairsville (18-8, 10-5) plays a three-game series with Northwest Whitfield to conclude regular season play. The Bruins will host on Tuesday and Friday. Adairsville will host on Thursday. All three games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Entering action on Friday night, Adairsville held the No. 10 position in the GHSA Class AAA Post-Season Rankings. The top 32 teams in the rankings at the end of the regular season will qualify for the state playoffs. The top 16 teams will host a first-round series.
