Tuesday hoops roundup: Canes rout Dalton Academy
The Cartersville boys won in blowout fashion Tuesday to open play in the 2021 Adairsville High School Christmas Clash. Meanwhile the Excel Christian Academy boys and Woodland girls suffered losses in their first round games also at Adairsville.
At the Campbell Christmas Tournament in Cobb County, the Cass boys suffered a five-point loss to North Cobb.

CARTERSVILLE BOYS 95, DALTON ACADEMY 20
at Adairsville Christmas Clash
The Cartersville boys overpowered Dalton Academy Tuesday afternoon 95-20 to advance to the semifinals of the Adairsville Christmas Clash.
The Canes led 31-5 after one quarter and 65-12 at halftime on their way to a 75-point win.
Eleven Cartersville players reached the scoring column led by Kam Callahan with 15 and Romo Pace with 13 points. Kedrick Chatmon and Luke Gambill scored nine each. Jaeden Scott, Chandler Mathison, and Jamauri Brice contributed eight each. D.J. Cain and Monterrius Tolbert finished with seven points each. Chaz Henderson scored six and Cedric McClinic added five for the Hurricanes.
Dalton Academy fell to 0-10 with the loss.
Cartersville (6-2) will play Adairsville Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. The Tigers were 71-35 winners over Johnson-Gainesville Tuesday night.
CALHOUN 91, EXCEL CHRISTIAN BOYS 53
at Adairsville Christmas Clash
Calhoun used full court pressure and pulled away early from Excel Christian in a 91-53 first round win Tuesday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets led 28-10 after one quarter; 47-26 at the intermission; and 75-35 through three quarters on their way to a 38-point victory.
Peyton Law led Calhoun (5-3) with 20 points. Brooks Crawford added 17 for the Yellow Jackets.
Jakaden Barkley led Excel with 19 points. Jacob Taylor scored 18 and Elijah Payne finished with 14 for the Eagles.
Excel (6-3) plays a consolation game Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. against Hebron Christian.
CHATTOOGA 52, WOODLAND GIRLS 41
at Adairsville Christmas Clash
The Lady Cats trailed by only two points at halftime, 25-23, but Chattooga eased away in the second half for a 52-41 win Tuesday afternoon.
Makiya Parish paced the Lady Indians (7-7) with 20 points.
Abigail Taylor also scored 20 points for Woodland while Reagan Weightman and Megan Schultz added seven apiece.
Woodland (2-9) plays Wednesday at 1 p.m. in a consolation game against Adairsville. The Lady Tigers lost Tuesday to Blessed Trinity 58-51 in overtime.
NORTH COBB 53, CASS BOYS 48
at Campbell Christmas Tournament
In a close game that saw the two teams exchange the lead several times, North Cobb pulled away in the final minutes for a 53-48 win over Cass.
The Colonels led 25-19 at halftime, but trailed 37-36 heading into the final eight minutes.
North Cobb (3-8) was led in scoring by Ben Hall with 16 points.
Sacovie White and Jayden Foster led Cass with 17 and 12 points, respectively.
Cass (5-6) plays again Wednesday against either Campbell or Cambridge.
CHRISTIAN HERITAGE 71, WOODLAND BOYS 49
at Carpet Capital Classic
The Woodland boys were unable to hang with host Christian Heritage in the opening round of the Carpet Capital Christmas Classic Tuesday in Dalton.
Following an early 9-9 tie, the Lions closed the first quarter on a 9-0 run and built a 37-13 advantage by the half en route to an eventual 22-point win.
Brelace Williams led the Wildcats (4-5) with 17 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter.
