Tuesday’s hoops roundup: Cartersville teams sweep at Hiram; Lady Colonels rally at Cedartown

The Cartersville girls’ and boys’ basketball teams earned wins on Tuesday at Hiram to stay at the top of the Region 7-AAAA standings. At Cedartown, the Cass girls rallied from a 21-point deficit for a region win.
CARTERSVILLE GIRLS 50, HIRAM 16

The third-ranked Lady Canes overpowered host Hiram Tuesday night, 50-16, to stay unbeaten in Region 7-AAAA.
Cartersville led 16-3 after one quarter, 26-5 at the half, and 42-8 through three quarters.
Kaytlin Arnold led the Lady Canes with 15 points. Bayley Stanley followed with 14 points and six steals.
Jaya Carter scored five points for the Lady Hornets (5-7, 3-1).
Cartersville (11-1, 4-0) hosts Holy Innocents on Thursday at 6 p.m. and travels to Southeast Whitfield for their next region game on Friday.
CASS GIRLS 64, CEDARTOWN 61
The Lady Colonels overcame a slow first half and surged in the second half Tuesday night to win at Cedartown 64-61.
Cass managed only 18 points in the first half and trailed by 21 points at the intermission, 39-18. The Lady Colonels rallied with a 46-point second half to edge Cedartown by three.
Cadie Paez poured in 22 points to lead Cass. Nakayla Evans and Yvonne Ellison also reached double figures with 18 and 14 points, respectively.
Camille Solomon led Cedartown (3-9, 0-4) with 19 points. Kenzie Boozer scored 15, and Hadlee Robinson added 11 for the Bulldogs.
Cass (4-8, 3-1) plays at ninth-ranked Dalton on Friday at 6 p.m.
CARTERSVILLE BOYS 74, HIRAM 60

The Canes trailed after three quarters on Tuesday night, but went on a 35-9 run to end the game and won 74-60 at Hiram.
The Hornets led 19-14 after one quarter, 37-30 at the intermission, and 55-54 after three quarters.
Nas Bennett led Cartersville in the scoring column with 23 points. He added six rebounds. Wyatt Thomason finished with a double-double, scoring 16 points with 12 rebounds and six assists. Kyron McClendon scored all of his 15 points in the second-half surge. Will Bishop grabbed seven rebounds.
A.J. Williams led Hiram (7-8, 3-1) with 27 points. Jordan Smith added 12 for the Hornets.
The Hurricanes (10-3, 4-0) travel to Southeast Whitfield on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. start.
ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 53, RIDGELAND 29
The Tigers grabbed a 15-2 lead in the first quarter and maintained their advantage for a 53-29 region win on Tuesday night at Ridgeland (6-8, 1-3).
Drew Nida scored 12 points for Adairsville.
The Tigers (2-14, 1-3) host Calhoun on Friday.
RIDGELAND 48, ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 38
The Adairsville girls trailed by ten points at halftime and failed to recover in the second half Tuesday night at Ridgeland, falling 48-38.
The host Lady Panthers led 25-15 at halftime and led 35-24 entering the fourth quarter.
Jordyn Thomas led Ridgeland (14-1, 3-1) with 21 points. Jamiah Lewis contributed 12 points for the hosts.
Rihanna Crittenden scored 17 points to lead Adairsville. Lily Roberts added 10 for the Lady Tigers.
The Adairsville girls (5-11, 0-4) host Calhoun on Friday at 6 p.m.
DALTON 70, WOODLAND GIRLS 17
The ninth-ranked Dalton girls won at Woodland on Tuesday, 70-17.
Dalton improved to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in Region 7-AAAA. Woodland (3-11, 0-4) hosts Cedartown on Friday at 6 p.m.
DALTON 61, WOODLAND BOYS 52
The host Wildcats kept pace with Dalton Tuesday night and challenged in the second half, but fell to the Catamounts 61-52.
“We made a run in the second half,” said Woodland coach Kip Dyer. “We just ran out of gas down the stretch, and the turnovers cost us.”
Dalton led 32-23 at halftime and 45-35 entering the fourth quarter en route to a nine-point win.
Jermichael Craft scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Catamounts (8-5, 3-1). Cole Laubscher contributed 12.
Amir Heath led the Wildcats with 18 points. Caiden Moore and Landon Dougherty each added 10.
Woodland (7-8, 0-4) hosts Cedartown on Friday in a 7:30 p.m. tip.
CEDARTOWN 48, CASS BOYS 42
A poor-shooting third quarter doomed the Colonels Tuesday night in a 48-42 region loss at Cedartown.
Cass trailed 23-18 at halftime and was outscored 16-4 in the third quarter.
Keenan Price and Zane Diamond Pasley led the Bulldogs (5-8, 1-3) with 14 points each. Colton Prather added 12.
Cam’ron Beauford scored 14 points for Cass. Ontario Crenshaw and Derrick Sams each added eight for the Colonels.
Cass (3-9, 2-2) visits region-foe Dalton on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. start.
