Tuesday's local softball, volleyball results





SOFTBALL

Adairsville 9, Ridgeland 7

The Lady Tigers built a 5-1 lead through 4-1/2 innings at Ridgeland Tuesday night, then held off the Lady Panthers down the stretch for a 9-7 Region 6-AAA win. Megan Gregory picked up the pitching win in 6-1/3 innings of work. She struck out nine and allowed only two, unearned runs. Halle Chason had four hits and one RBI to pace the Tigers’ offense. Alissa Winters followed with three hits. McKenzie Pullam (3 RBIs), Brie Patterson (RBI), and Jenna Young had two hits each for Adairsville. Taylor Evans (2 RBIs) and Gregory had the other base hits. The loss dropped Ridgeland to 6-16 on the season and 2-8 in region play. Adairsville (7-10-1, 3-7) plays at LaFayette Wednesday.


Cartersville 10, Hiram 2

Lady Canes’ pitcher Ava Perkins allowed only one earned run in five innings of work Tuesday as Cartersville cruised to a 10-2 home win over Hiram. Perkins fanned nine. Campbell Rogers (double, 3 RBIs) and Elizabeth Nelson had two hits each for the Hurricanes. Jordan Bishop (triple, RBI), Kiley Arnold (RBI), Jordan Bishop (RBI), Layne Callan (RBI), and Reese Dumas added one hit each. Hiram falls to 4-12 overall and 0-10 in region play. Cartersville moves to 12-8-1 overall and 10-1 in Region 7-AAAAA



Dalton 11, Cass 2

Dalton pitcher Kaylee Tatum limited the Cass offense to only three hits — two by Alexis Woods and one by Braelyn Franklin — as the visiting Lady Catamounts beat Cass for a second time Tuesday. After going winless through their first seven region games, Dalton has now won three straight. Dalton improves to 5-11 overall and 3-7 in Region 7-AAAA. Cass (8-16, 5-6) plays at Calhoun Thursday.


Calhoun 7, Woodland 4

Calhoun scored six runs across the first two innings and held off Woodland Tuesday night 7-4. The Woodland defense committed six errors enabling four, unearned runs for the Yellow Jackets. Alana Carnes had three hits for the Lady Cats. Peyton Dorn followed with two. Elizabeth Hartsfield homered with Kamryn Smith and Cambrie Carrington adding base hits for Woodland. Calhoun improved to 17-6 overall and 8-2 in Region 7-AAAAA. Woodland (11-13, 5-6) plays at Hiram Wednesday.




VOLLEYBALL

Adairsville lost at Gordon Lee 25-22, 25-6

Adairsville also lost to Dade County, 25-19, 26-24

The Lady Tigers are now 11-19-2 overall, 1-6 in Region 6-AAA. They play at Sonoraville October 6.

Cartersville defeated Cass (played at Hiram) 25-12, 25-20

Cartersville beat Hiram 25-10, 25-11

Lady Canes improved to 23-12 overall and 5-0 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Cass is 10-19-1 overall and 1-4 in Region 7-AAAAA
